Follow these steps to setup a molbox terminal (molbox1, molbox1+, molbox RFM) in COMPASS for Flow calibration software. All are setup with the "Autodetect" feature so individual commands don't have to be setup. During test initialization COMPASS will communicate with the device to read what model it is, and what sensors and options are present.

This example shows screen-shots for a molbox1+ flow terminal.

In COMPASS for Flow click on [Setup], <Support Device> and then click the white piece of paper in the top right corner  to make a new device. Enter the necessary information; Serial Number, Identification or Customer ID is required.

Click the help icon  at any time for more detailed information noting that you will likely have to then click on a link for the tab that you are on (e.g. Header, Calibration, Tolerance....)

Header tab - Setup the molbox as an "Individual" "Record Type". This will require an entry in at least one of the Serial Number, Identification or Customer ID fields.

Calibration tab - All information is optional. Specifications are shown for a molbloc with standard class calibration and a molbox1 or molbox1+. Premium class calibration numbers would be 0.0125 % Span and 0.125 % Reading with a molbox1+.

Communications tab - RS232 and IEEE communications are most popular. These settings must match those in the molbox menu; [Special], <Remote>, <COM1> or [Special], <Remote>, <IEEE488>.

Comment tab is optional.

To check communications run a manual test in COMPASS for Flow by this menu path; [Run], <Run Manual Test>. Choose the units that you want and press the [Clear Previous Selections] button to clear any prior run settings.

DUT Selection Screen - Don't choose a DUT. You might get a warning "No DUT selected" but just continue.

Test Hardware Configuration Screen - Choose the molbox that you setup as the "Reference Flow" device and choose "Manual Control" as the "Flow Control" device".

Select Auxiliary Device Screen - Don't choose an auxiliary device, just press Next.

Configure Device Screen - Verify that the remote communications settings are correct (or change them) and press the [Load Settings] button to load the information from the molbox and molbloc. Then view the drop-down "molbox1+ Ranges" and choose a molbloc and the calibration that you want to use. Select the Calibration Gas if not already selected.

Initialization Complete (Final Review) Screen - Press the [Finish] button to start the test or the [Back] button to go back and review or edit settings.

The bottom of the COMPASS window will show "Initializing..." until initialization is complete (or will show error messages). If the molbox window is not shown click on the Display Device Window icon  to show it. Screen should look like this. Click the "Create Data File" icon  to see that the path specified to save data files to works. Take a few data points by pressing the "Take Point" icon , or press the Stop icon  to stop the test and return to the idle screen where you can edit devices, tests or close COMPASS.

If the Flow and other parameters are not showing, updating or if you have an error message see the Display Interface Spy article to view the remote communications between COMPASS and the device. Also see the Remote Communications Troubleshooting article.
