A lot of the meters you can check the fuses without opening the unit. You will have to get what the fuses should read from the users manual of the meter you have. You are going to take one test lead and plug it into the ohms input and then take that same test lead and measure the upper part of milli-amp and amp inputs and you should get a resistance reading if you get OL the fuse would be bad.
